This page contains suggestions to facilitate the biking and walking experience in Kaust. While some problems and suggestions are given below, the question comes to mind is who do you tell or ask for solutions or corrections;

Problem 1: I walked out of Big Tamimi and wanted to go towards the KMC to catch the Purple bus to take me to the garden. The zebra crossing in the picture is interrupted by the road median. The median is filled with gravel. Imagine I am walking with a stroller with a baby inside. How do I negotiate with this median on the zebra crossing. One would not want to reduce the length of the median to make the zebra crossing without obstructions, because the cars making a U turn would start turning closer to the new edge of the zebra crossing and cause more problems.

Possible Solution: The only solution that comes to mind is to make a narrow up and down concrete ramp (about the width of the ramp on the other side of the road) at a distance of about two foot from the present circular edge of the median so that cars are restricted from making a shorter turn and pedestrians or bikers or strollers can carry on crossing the road without having to go around the median or hop over the median.

Problems 2: I walked out of big Tamimi and wanted to go to the square. Rurned right along the big Tamimi Building and saw this. Wether you are pushing a stroller or walking by yourself, you will have to either hop and skip over the gravel or go around into the driving lane.

Possible Solution: I would cut the central median and let the zebra lines pass through the median. The asphalt or concrete would have to be placed instead of existing gravel mulch.

Problems 3: This happens right in front of the Hospital.

Possible Solution: This would need creating ramps at the curbs so that strollers can slide down easily.
